Exhibition ‘What would you change about the RGEU?’ ^ April, 2024
FAUP Edgar Brito & Ana Pontes
On the 8th of January 2024, the Mais Habitação simplex decreed that ‘the RGEU will be revoked with effect from the 1st of June 2026’ - Decreto-Lei nº 10, 8th of January, Diário da República.
The exhibition ‘What would you change about the RGEU?’ seeks to analyse the legislative scenario in advance, taking into account the repeal of the RGEU in June 2026. It gathered ateliers from different generations to launch a debate on a new Construction Code and encourage academic and professional reflection on future architectural standards.
Circunflexo was one of the studios invited to take part in the graphic debate ‘What would you change about the RGEU?’. Our proposal was centred on the issue of aesthetics, based on the question ‘What is this aesthetic?’, questioning articles 121 and 122 of the RGEU. The poster is a visual exercise and a form of questioning, leaving open the debate on the ambiguity of aesthetics.
